The Tent: A Jewish Learning Community for Greater Boston Teens

Congregation Kehillath Israel, Temple Israel, and Temple Beth Zion have joined together to create this exciting program for teens grades 8-12.

We’re thrilled to announce that our award-winning Monday Night School has a new name. One of the most exciting parts of this past year has been the piloting of a communal model for our school on Monday nights. We entered into partnership with two neighbors, Temple Israel and Temple Beth Zion, to create a pluralistic learning community. Our students come from our three synagogues, from other area congregations, and from unaffiliated families. TI and TBZ clergy offer classes alongside our own clergy and other great teachers, and our students benefit from that diversity of learning and experience.

It stands for our openness to ideas and ways of learning about our Jewish lives, and for our openness to any teen in Greater Boston who wants to join us. “The Tent” says that we are strong yet flexible – even the busiest teens can make a home in some part of the Tent. It also says that we’re portable, and indeed The Tent can set up not only at TI, but at TBZ, KI, and who knows where else!

With our amazing teachers and wide variety of electives, our award-winning classes Our Whole Lives (for the 8th grade fall) and TIKKUN: To Take on the World, our first-ever Boston-Haifa Connection class and Israel travel exchange, and more on the horizon, there’s truly something for everyone in The Tent. Join us! We look forward to seeing you in September.
