Entrance for all Youth Services

Preparation for our construction project has begun. For further details, please see our KI Next website. We have now transferred all services and activities to the Epstein side of the building.

For all youth services, please enter at the Williams Street door and go downstairs. This is a ground floor entrance accessible on Williams St. If you are facing the building with Harvard Street behind you, it is to the left and around the corner. Please see the picture to the left. Click the photo for an enlarged version.

Calendar & Partner Shabbat Dates

A google calendar is available for youth offerings. Which services are meeting and whether babysitting and drop-off activities are available will be updated on this calendar. We will also add special events when details are available.

The dates of our partner minyanim’s Shabbat services are also available. On dates when either Washington Square Minyan or Minyan Kol Rinah are here, babysitting will be offered (see below for details). When Washington Square Minyan is here, pre-tefila drop-off educational activities will also be available (see below for details).

Service for newborns through pre-K:

  • Nitzanim (ages 0-4) at 10:45 am
Room 3. (Use Williams St. Entrance.)

Celebrate Shabbat with songs, prayer, and movement! Please remember that nuts should NOT be brought into Nitzanim and KI has a strict KOSHER food policy. An adult is required to attend with children at this service.

Pre-Tefila drop-off educational activities:

Three Shabbatot per month we will join together for pre-tefila drop-off educational activities, led by two teens and a Washington Square Minyan staff person. The programming planned will include learning the parsha through drama, Hebrew games, and singing. WSM is one of our partner minyanim. Please see our Google Calendar for dates.

  • Activities for ages 5-7:
Room 5, 9:45 – 10:30 am (Use Williams St. Entrance.)
  • Activities for ages 8-12:
Room 2, 9:45 – 10:30 am (Use Williams St. Entrance.)

Services for children Kindergarten through Grade 6:

Please see our Google Calendar. For some holidays, including school holiday weeks, Mini-Minyan and Jr. Congregation may be combined.

  • Ages 5-7: Mini-Minyan service: Room 5 at 10:30 am (Use Williams St. Entrance.)
Celebrate Shabbat with prayers and discussion, using an age-appropriate participatory siddur. We conclude the service with the congregation in Epstein Hall. Parents are welcome to join their kids.
  • Ages 8-12: Jr. Congregation (ages 8-12): Room 2 at 10:30 am (Use Williams St. Entrance.)
A peer-oriented format for Jr. Congregation.
To foster connections between similarly aged kids and to help manage space constraints during this transitional year for our building, we encourage children to attend without parents.  Parents will be welcomed back for once or twice per month family-oriented services (see below) during Junior Congregation.  As mentioned above, teen counselors will be joining this service to support the kids and act mentors.
  • Ages 8-12, Special Family-Oriented Jr. Congregation Services: Room 2 at 10:30 am (Use Williams St. Entrance.)
The dates of these family-oriented services (2017-18) will be: Nov. 25, Dec. 2, Dec. 23, Jan. 13, Feb. 3, Feb. 24, March 17,  March 31, April 21, May 19, May 26, and June 16. We will also remind families as these dates approach, in our weekly KI e-newsletters.

Calling all teens for the Bogrim (emerging adults) Minyan! The Bogrim Minyan is an exciting opportunity to grow as a tfilah leader and have a lot of fun while doing so. We will be having a Ramah style service while learning new tunes, reading torah, acting out the parshah, playing games, and much more. Bogrim will reconvene when the school year begins.
