KICKS
Our KICKS (KI Community Kabbalat Shabbat) experience seeks to create a spiritually meaningful and dynamic communal prayer experience that welcomes Shabbat. To keep things fresh, we have a core of leaders who share tunes, plan, and lead services together. Weekly teaching also emerges from within a growing cohort of participants of all ages. It begins at 6:00PM

Shabbat Neshama

Six times a year, the entire 384 Harvard Street campus will gather for Shabbat Neshama, an initiative focused on song, connecting to our roots, and heartfelt prayer across all generations. The name, meaning “Shabbat of the Soul,” comes from the Talmudic tradition of neshama yeiteira, which teaches that we gain a second, elevated soul when we welcome Shabbat. Join us for a heightened, soulful Shabbat experience, coming together in song and prayer with full body and spirit.
Rooted in Tradition

Shabbat Neshama will be based on a traditional format, including the Kabbalat Shabbat (welcoming Shabbat) and Ma’ariv (evening) services. It will be steeped in nusach (Jewish musical prayer modes), blending elements of both chazzanut (cantorial singing) and communal song. We will be debuting a new prayer booklet with the full liturgy in Hebrew, English, and English transliteration.

Campus-Wide, Multi-Generational Connection
In partnership with Mishkan Tefila and Kehillath Israel, Shabbat Neshama aims to expand what’s possible for our campus vision and prayer experiences. We hope to connect us not only to our spiritual side but to each other. Whether you’re a family with small children, a young professional, or an empty nester, we invite you to connect. Whether you’re deeply familiar with traditional services or just beginning to learn, let’s connect. Whether you visit our campus for a study session with Rabbi Hamilton or Rabbi Starr, or pop in for a Jacob’s Ladder-hosted Melave Malka, we welcome you. Whether you are a religious school family or a day school family, let’s connect. Through these newfound connections, we can learn to love, listen, and cherish our Kehillah Kedosha (holy community) here on our dear 384 Harvard Street campus.
