When Does the Good Outweigh the Bad? Fall Learning with Rabbi Laster

When Does the Good Outweigh the Bad? Lessons from the Talmud
Fall Learning with Rabbi Talia Laster
Begins November 2 at KI; 7:00-8:30PM

From within one of the most troubling episodes of the Torah, the rabbis of the Talmud engage a basic human question: If I do bad things, can I still be thought of as a good person? Are there some good and bad deeds that “count” more than others? And who’s counting, anyway?  Through deep engagement with one section of the Babylonian Talmud, in Tractate Sotah, we will explore questions within the realms of ethics, theology, gender, literature, and more.
