Daily Minyan. Nothing is more core to KI’s purpose. Thankfully, we are blessed to be part of a community that needs no reminder of this. Indeed, for our KI family, it is a self-evident truth.
You all know why and how important a communal prayer life can be for those seeking to honor the memories of loved ones and for a consistent, faithful spiritual diet. To paraphrase the words of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel: Prayer is important even when we ignore it for a while, like a candlestick that we set aside during the day. Night will come, and we will again feel the need to gather round its flame. In prayer, we discover how our needs mingle with the universal needs of humankind.
Throughout the pandemic, KI members have stepped up impressively to keep Minyan alive on Zoom. Over the past 18 months, as the threat has eased, we have cautiously returned to in-person Minyanim while keeping to the emergency modifications to the service that we created during the pandemic, such as counting both in-person and Zoom attendees for the required 10 people needed to say Mourner’s Kaddish. We are now at a point where it is once again viable to support our community members in mourning and observing yahrzeits with 10 people physically present in order to pray their Mourners Kaddish–while still allowing for those on Zoom to engage in the service and pray Kaddish if needed.
Here is how you can raise your hand to help with either morning or evening minyanim:

During the summer of 2023, we will turn to building an in-person midday 12:20PM Mincha. We also plan to return to in-person quorum norms for Mourner’s Kaddish when this feels safe, even as online Kaddish participation will remain a vital option. Indeed, online prayer remains robust and will continue to be a part of what we offer.
If you feel called to participate in this, please complete the forms above. Thank you for strengthening and supporting our growing community.
