KI is planning to soon welcome an Afghan family to Brookline! Assisting with refugee resettlement is one way to live out the Jewish value of welcome – hachnasat orchim. There are many aspects of resettlement, including securing donations of household goods, shopping for groceries, and furnishing the family’s apartment before their arrival; identifying physical and mental health care providers and accompanying family members to appointments; providing ESOL instruction and educational access; career mentorship and making connections to employment opportunities; familiarizing the family with the local public transportation system and taking the family on fun local outings! If you would be interested in joining the team that will help support the family, please contact socialaction@congki.org.
