Dear Members of our KI Family,
It’s with a heavy-heart and warm wishes that, beginning this July, Rabbi Elizabeth Bonney-Cohen has decided to return to her hometown of Kansas City to accept a Rabbinic position at their local pluralistic Day School.
We’re going to miss her so much. At the same time, we wish her and Matt and their growing family only the best as Rabbi EBC launches this important new professional chapter of her impressively strong rabbinate.
Over the course of the past six years, Rabbi EBC has brought so much love of learning, celebrating, and serving to KI. She has been a wonderful colleague and an inspiring spiritual leader for us – first as a rabbinic intern and more recently as the founder of Base BSTN, KI’s celebrated project that continues to touch the lives of hundreds of young professionals who make Boston home. Indeed her leadership has enabled our campus vision to embrace an important international partner, Base International/Moishe House, a partnership we plan on growing in some new form in the coming years.
As we have watched Rabbi EBC’s family take root and flourish ever since she and her husband Matt met in our Sukkah several years ago, we’re so sorry to have to say l’hitraot. Filling her shoes won’t be easy. That said, our commitments to being a central address for young professionals and for young families have never been stronger. We look forward to announcing some interim plans in advance of our farewell to Rabbi EBC in June.
Her own heartfelt sentiments are conveyed to you in this accompanying letter.
Having to say goodbye will be hard, but the notion that KI continues to be a vital incubator for the leaders who serve our People is a sacred role we have long cherished. We look forward to being in touch in the coming weeks about opportunities to wish Rabbi EBC and her family well.
Very sincerely yours,
Rabbi William Hamilton
