Our community is working together on a new Tzedek project to support Springs of Hope Foundation (SOHF), a U.S. nonprofit that helps war refugees and Yazidis in Northern Iraq through a number of rehabilitation and rebuilding programs. Our goal at KI is to help Springs of Hope expand their Sewing Hope program by collecting targeted sewing supplies (by June 8) and by raising money (by August 3) for the expansion and ongoing running of the program. Below, find find opportunities to donate dollars and supplies on their wish list, listen to a podcast between Rabbi Hamilton and SOHF Founder Lisa Miara, and view images and videos about the people and project!
In addition to extending the deadline of sewing supplies to Tuesday, June 8, the Sewing Hope ladies are now creating designer pomegranate bags for their Hope Couture line, which will launch at Rosh HaShanah! Please consider donating sewing supplies, especially pomegranate-colored sewing supplies, or making a gift to KI’s Sewing Hope Fund that will empower these Yazidi women and allow them to make more festive bags to sell throughout the world. KI is working with Sewing Hope to obtain a shipment of one-of-a-kind pomegranate bags to be available for purchase at KI at Rosh HaShanah. For more information, and to indicate your interest in purchasing a new holiday pomegranate bag for yourself and/or as Rosh HaShanah gifts, please contact socialaction@congki.org.
For more information, to make a pledge, or to offer a matching gift opportunity, please contact springsofhopefoundation@gmail.com or socialaction@congki.org. Your kindness in partnering with us to spread the word about this initiative is most welcome and appreciated.
